This jointless steel fibre reinforced concrete floor slab had been constructed in piles approximately 12 years ago. Albeit the slab was performing well, a number of steel profile construction joints had begun to breakdown under heavy trafficking and extreme movement. See photo
The floor had a wire guidance system installed for the narrow aisle fork lifts which also had broken down at the construction joint interface which is typical after a number of years. At the doorways fork lifts had been sliding on the wet floor and damaged cladding due to the floor being slippery.
The nationwide diamond group could solve all three of the clients concrete floor slab problems.
Doorway construction joints were cut out and removed and replaced with brand new steel fibre reinforced concrete, power floated and then sealed.
The wire guidance system joints were re instated with an epoxy repair method and then ground down smooth to allow seamless trafficking by the narrow wheelbases forklifts.
The doorway interfaces between internal and external concrete floor slab were treated with acid etching to create a far more slip resistance environment for forklifts and operatives to use.
