The final step is the application of the protective sealer, reducing the absorption of grease, water and other harmful substances that can compromise the structure of the floor slab.

Cracks in floor slab before repair

In January Nationwide Concrete Flooring Contractors were called upon by R G Carter Projects limited to carry out repairs on an internal concrete floor in a Waitrose supermarket warehouse floor in Sevenoaks, Kent. The job was perfect for Nationwide Concrete Flooring

The floor, which was suffering from cracks that needed sealing to avoid further degradation and disruption to work, was a busy area during the daylight hours as stock came and went from the warehouse. To avoid significant disruption to the client’s workload and schedule, Nationwide Concrete Flooring Contractors ensured the repair work, on a 100 l/m area, was carried out at night between the hours of 6pm and 6am when traffic through the warehouse was at a minimum.

The cracks were made regular with a ‘V’ blade and cleared of debris before being filled with thrixotropic epoxy adhesive which was left proud. After being allowed to dry, the adhesive sitting proud was ground off to ensure a smooth finish was achieved.
