Nationwide Concrete Flooring have just completed the installation of an overlay concrete floor slab for the refurbishment of an existing retail unit at Regent Retail Park in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
Due to heavily restricted access and working hour constraints this project was extremely challenging. Large 200mm thick insulation blocks were laid underneath the floor in order to make up the levels and high strength concrete was poured through one single doorway via a mobile pump. The client required a flatness tolerance to be achieved on the completed surface of the powerfloated concrete and so with this in mind, as well as overall concrete volumes to be poured in one day Nationwide Concrete Flooring chose to use their 3.0 XD Laser Screed in conjunction with the mobile pump. The 3.0 XD Laser Screed operates in a very similar manner to that of the larger Laser Screeds but is far more suitable to working in tight spaces with poor access.
With the ambient temperature being extremely high and temperatures in the building even hotter the Nationwide Concrete Flooring finishing team had to work under difficult conditions to control an even and uniformed surface finish. Their many years experience in powerfloating and polishing concrete floor slabs was good enough to provide an excellent finished product.
