Sub Base Preparation, Grading and Compacting

Nationwide Concrete Flooring now carries out the final grading and compacting of the  sub base layer  underneath the concrete floor slab using the laser guiding equipment.

The sub base compact leveller works in a similar manner to the concrete laser screed.Once the datum level and set the laser receivers moves the machine up and down to form a very accurate sub base level tolerances.

This not only minimises any potential waste of ready mixed concrete but also provided an excellent working platform during the concrete process. Using this laser controlled machinery we can achieve tolerances of at least plus or minus 10mm from overall datum.

A level sub base enhances the long term performance of the concrete floor slab as the concrete can shrink more evenly without restraint. This reduces the chance of shrinkage cracking occurring over the life span of the concrete floor slab.

Installation of Instant Seal 101 Joint Sealant for Large External Concrete Floor slabs

Approximately 7,000 Linear metres of Instant Seal 101 joint sealant was installed by Nationwide Diamond Contracts at the Sainsbury’s Distribution Centre in East Kilbride, near Glasgow.

As you can see from the photographs the conditions were not ideal as the client immediately trafficked the completed sealant works within minutes of completion. This added to the weather conditions proved to be difficult task for Nationwide Diamond Contracts.

Fortunately our Instant Seal 101 can be installed in the wet as the product automatically bonds to the joints. The project was completed within in 3 week period leaving the client very satisfied with the work Nationwide Diamond Contracts have completed.

Concrete floor Slab For Television Star Market Weighton, Yorkshire

Nationwide Concrete Flooring are very pleased and proud to be associated with a real life television star, James Stephenson of Arras Hill Farm in Market Weighton. James appeared on the channel five programme “Farmer Wants a Wife” this summer. Unfortunately James did not manage to either mention Nationwide Concrete Flooring Limited were working for him or pull one of the birds in the show.

The beautiful power towelled shiny new concrete floor slab did not even feature! Fortunately for disappointed viewers and the people looking at this Project Spotlight we have a photograph of the floor slab above. You will note the concrete floor slab has been sprayed with our curing agent which also acts as a dust inhibitor. We then saw cut the joints the following day and seal the joints with our own Instant Seal 101. The Instant Seal 101 stops grain ingression into the joints which vastly assists maintenance and cleaning operations for James and other farmers/clients.

Large bay flood pour Laser Levelled external Concrete Floor Slabs

Nationwide Concrete Flooring specialise in the design and construction of wide bay external concrete floor slabs. So many of our external concrete floor slabs are designed built to traditional long strip methods and we would like to inform potential customers that times have moved on and we are now capable of casting external floor slabs using modern techniques in terms of laying and finishing external slabs.

The adjacent photograph shows an external floor slab been poured using flood pour technique with help of the laser levelling control. There are many benefits to using this system both for the main contractor and the end user. Some of these are that joints are minimised saving on remedial sealant costs and time saving due to the large areas. We agree the reinforcement detail with the engineer or indeed specify ourselves dependant upon the type of contract we are involved in. The levels and falls are agreed between both parties and the casting methods are sometimes dictated to by the layout of the buildings, obstructions etc. There are numerous different types of reinforcement available on the market and we as a reputable flooring contractor help the client or main contractor to decide on the most suitable reinforcement for the project.

Nationwide Concrete Flooring has the knowledge and experience for numerous different types of design and construction of external concrete floor slabs and we welcome the opportunity to discuss these with you given the opportunity.

Joint sealant of internal concrete floor slab for large distribution centre, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Yorkshire

Instant Seal 101 has been used to seal the saw cut induced contraction joints for a large distribution centre in Dewsbury, Nr Wakefield, Yorkshire.

As you can see from the photographs the Instant Seal 101 is heavily trafficked hour after hour day after day. The joint sealant is now 16 months old and still in excellent condition leaving the client very pleased with the durability and longevity of the product. We have been to inspect the joints in conjunction with the clients representative and it has been found that the Instant Seal 101 as yet does not need replacing in any of the saw cut joints.

Not only does the Instant Seal 101 help against debris ingress into the joint but also helps protect the arris edge of the concrete floor slab from breaking down under trafficking. This feature not only improves the aesthetic features but also minimises long term maintenance expenditure for the client/end user/contractor.

For further details on the range of joint sealants that we offer or demonstrations on the products please contact us on 01430 436596 or paula@nd-group.com / rachel@nd-group.com / jon@nd-group.com.
